Service Description: StopsTags is a comprehensive national graffiti database created for graffiti vandalism prevention. Wellington City Council uses the StopTags database to manage graffiti reporting and to share graffiti data with its partners, particularly with the police.
Information recorded in the StopTags database includes:
– Photo of the tag and possible identification of the tagger
– Location and date
– Graffiti method used (medium and surface)
– The approximate size of the graffiti vandalism
– The message and the tag
All graffiti information is Geo-coded and used tomap ‘hot spots’. The data is used to help identify and share information on repeat offenders.
Wellington City Council encouragesresidents and businesses to report graffiti and assist inidentifying, addressing frequently tagged sites and taggers.
The Wellington City Council removes offensive graffiti within 4 hours, highly visible graffiti within 24 hours and all other graffiti within 3 working days.
The graffiti removal contractor enters the data on each tag into StopTags.
