Description: The position of an archaeological site (point), derived from the NZTM easting and northing. An archaeological site is defined as any specific locality where there is or has been physical evidence for human occupation or activity in the past, that is or maybe able to be investigated by archaeological techniques. The Archaeological Site recording Scheme is managed by the New Zealand Archaeological Association and Wellington City Council recieves regular (monthly) updates to this dataset. The data is provided under license to be used by Wellington City Council for internal business purposes and must not be provided to any person outsite Wellington City Council unless with the express written permission of NZAA. Description: In cases where the position of an archaeological site is given as a grid reference obtained from CINZAS, this service provides a 100 metre square plotted from the south west corner of the site to display the area where the site position is likely to lie. This service does not show the area/extent of the site.
